Fight the Powerlessness - Boycott the Democrats
Many progressives are angry. They want to send Obama and his fellow phony Democrats a message next November. But they don't know how to counter the central argument of the two-party trap.
We Learned Nothing From 9/11
They say everything changed on 9/11. No one can dispute that. But we didn't learn anything.

American Dogs Count More Than Afghan People
Don't news consumers have the right to hear from the "other" side of the story? Or must we continue the childish pretense that the Taliban are all women-hating fanatics incapable of rational thought while "our guys" are all benevolent and pure of heart?
What's the Matter with Obama?
As a pundit it's my job to explain why politicians do the things they do. Why isn't Obama worried about unemployment?

Lawsuit Alleges Harassment And Sleaze At Maui Prosecutors Officenew

Pornographic images downloaded on official county computers. Spurned lovers. Jealous superiors. Inter-office romance gone bad. Demeaning comments about breasts and pregnancy. Falsified attendance reports. Rampant name-calling. This is juicy stuff, but it's not from a cheesy beach novel or even a new Fox reality series.

Americans Elect: Another Astroturf Group
Just what we need—another phony Astroturf movement (hello, Tea Party) financed by thieving Wall Street hedge-fund scum.
The GOP Bets on Bad Judgement
Conventional wisdom floggers say that if Congress can't strike a deal and economic consequences follow—a reduction in the ratings of U.S. government-issued securities and a panic in the securities market—voters will hold Republicans accountable in 2012. Even if things don't turn that far south, the GOP will pay for their intransigence. Obama wins in a cakewalk. I'm not so sure.
Toxic Assets

DSK: Give Him Back His Job. Then Jail Him.
Even as DSK flew first-class and left his most intimate DNA in $450-a-night suites at four-star hotels, his IMF was demanding that the citizens of Greece and Portugal slash pensions and hike college tuition. That is his biggest crime, undeniable and unforgivable, and the one for which he and those like him should someday face justice.

Being, Nothingness and Anthony Weiner
Aside from the obvious pleasure that we derive from wallowing in salacious revelations about the rich and powerful, this week's Weiner sexting controversy provides a window into American morals. Namely: what is wrong, what is right, and what if anything should be done about it?

Teddy Roosevelt Saw This Coming
Why did our political system become so corrupt and unresponsive? How did we end up with such a rigid, Old European-style class system—in which you can't get ahead unless you were born that way? One hundred years ago, Teddy Roosevelt saw this coming.
