East Bay Express
Stephen Buel is co-owner of the East Bay Express, where
he worked as editor from 2001-2010, and to which he
returned as majority owner (along with his wife, Judith
Gallman) in 2017.
Buel has worked for weekly newspapers off and on again
since 1985, when he started Spectrum Weekly, an
alternative newsweekly modeled after the Express. He also
served as acting editor of the LA Weekly; editor of San
Jose's alternative newsweekly, Metro; and editorial director
of the San Francisco Media Company when it acquired the
San Francisco Bay Guardian and the SF Weekly.
Telegraph Media also publishes Oakland Magazine;
Alameda Magazine; The East Bay Monthly; and Bay Woof,
the Bay Area dog newspaper.
