'When Did You Last See Your Father?' Floats Along Unconvincinglynew
If it were more maudlin, it'd be a cheesy TV movie, but then it might at least have greater feeling to it.

'I Love Money' is Exactly What it Sounds Like: Patheticnew

With I Love Money, even the pretense of looking for a personal connection has been abandoned. The title brazenly declares the true intentions of just about anyone who goes on a reality TV show (look for Please Pay Attention to Me, coming soon).

Motley Crue's Latest is a Conscious Effort to Return to '80s Glory Daysnew
Saints tries hard to sound tough and succeeds about half the time, but the Crue used to be much better when they didn't have to constantly remind people how dangerous they were.

'Garcia Girls' is Worth the Roundabout Journeynew
Showcased at Sundance back in 2005, How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer finally makes its way to theaters thank no doubt to the increased profile of star America Ferrera, better known these days for her role on Ugly Betty. Whatever the reason, it's a welcome arrival and a nice alternative to what we typically consider summer entertainment at the movies.

'Lie Down in the Light' is Will Oldham's Most Countrified Disc Yetnew
There's a subtle, laid-back twang throughout, arriving via fiddle, banjo, pedal-steel guitar, organ, clarinet (?!) and, above all, the old-world voice of Ashley Webber, who proves a better singing partner for Oldham than the more heralded Dawn McCarthy did on 2006's The Letting Go.

Pixar Hits New Creative Heights with 'WALL-E'new
This pointed satire of our short-sighted indolence -- itself far more thought-provoking, by the way, than were such recent eco-docs as An Inconvenient Truth and The 11th Hour -- ultimately satisfies more than does the cutesy romance between WALL-E and EVE, which has a few lovely moments but generally tends to pander.

'Stop-Snitching' is More Complicated than You Might Thinknew

The mainstream media is generally the last to know, and by the time it catches on, the trend it's highlighting ceases to be a trend. So it is with the stop-snitching movement. But the culture of snitching and the incipient rise of its anti-snitching counterpart are deadly matters.

What 'The Love Guru' Doesn't Have is Anything Actually Funny or Relevantnew
But it does have everything a big summer comedy is expected to have, including star cameos, sex jokes, gay jokes, penis jokes, testicle jokes, pee jokes, poop jokes and booger jokes.

Nevada Leaves Millions of Gay-Marriage Dollars on the Table in the Name of Moralitynew
Because of the utter hypocrisy, stupidity and basic mean-spiritedness of the Silver State's electorate, Las Vegas will miss out on untold millions of dollars in tourism spending that could've been for being on the forefront of the coming gay-marriage tsunami.

'The Incredible Hulk' Reboots -- but Can't Improve -- the Marvel Superheronew
If you enjoy watching huge dudes wail on each other, you surely won't be disappointed; those hoping for something more, however, will sense the movie shrinking even as the CGI steroids kick in.

USA’s New Procedural Marshals Little Excitementnew
Procedural fans looking for something new this summer probably won’t mind Sight’s mediocrity, and it does at least make an effort to shed some light on an area of police work that’s underrepresented in TV and movies—and generally depicted from the criminal’s perspective if it’s showcased at all. The more these similar shows fill the cable airwaves, though, the harder each one will have to work to distinguish itself. And in that respect, In Plain Sight clearly falls short.

Film Should've Remained in Shallow Waternew
Though the title implies otherwise, Bra Boys is neither an ’80s sex romp nor a cross-dressing exposé. The documentary does, however, concern porn: the little-known genre of wave porn, specifically.

Why Are the Sex Pistols Only Playing Las Vegas?new

Before beginning a 25-date European and Japanese summer tour, the reunited U.K. punk godfathers—original lineup: Johnny Rotten, Steve Jones, Glen Matlock and Paul Cook—will perform once in the U.S. Not in New York City. Or Los Angeles. But in Las Vegas, at the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel. Considering the band’s 2003 gig at the same venue didn’t even sell out, we’re wondering why.
