Portland, OR -- June 5, 2007 -- Portland-based software company Pre1 Software has released SmartPublisher™ 4.5, an advanced software suite that automates the publishing workflow and is used by over 300 alternative weekly newspapers, daily newspapers and monthly magazines nationwide. Continuing the complete re-architecture of SmartPublisher™ that began with version 4.0, the new 4.5 release offers an optional browser-based CRM module, where all users can tap into contact management, direct marketing and critical customer and ad reporting features at any time, regardless of location. Pre1's SmartPublisher™ 4.5 has also been improved to benefit every user, regardless of job function.

SmartPublisher™ 4.5 allows users to view Web sites with its built-in web browser, allowing quick access to Google Maps, customer websites and the administration of web-based classified services. Publishers now have powerful options to prevent select users from overriding rates at the time of entry, editing or renewal. The Production Automation feature speeds up the pagination of classifieds, due to the one-click export, automatic section head placement and updated plug-ins for Adobe InDesign CS2, and QuarkXPress. Date-based payment discounts encourage prompt payment of invoices by providing reduced rates when paid by specific dates and SmartPublisher™ 4.5 will automatically apply the appropriate discount when the payment is entered. Invoices can be printed to groups or individuals to PDF format.
