Mark Jurkowitz

Mark Jurkowitz was The Boston Globe’s first full-time media critic and has held that position since September 1997. He joined the paper in 1995 and served as ombudsman and part-time media writer. Jurkowitz began his career at the TAB Newspapers and was editor-in-chief there from 1984 to 1986. He was media critic for The Boston Phoenix for seven years, where he wrote the "Don’t Quote Me" column. Jurkowitz has worked as a talk radio host on WRKO, WHDH, and WBZ. For two years, he was a public affairs commentator for Monitor Radio. He has been an instructor of media ethics at Northeastern and Tufts universities
