Creative Loafing (Charlotte) Editor Plans New Comic Book Featuring "Cool Black Superheroes"
Soon-to-depart Creative Loafing (Charlotte) editor Carlton Hargro recently launched a Kickstarter campaign in an effort to put more color into comic books.

Hargro is working on a series called "Isis," about a black female superhero, but needs money to pay for production fees. Once published, he plans to sell the book online and in stores.

On his Kickstarter page, Hargro explained how his characters will be different:
"...These won't be gals and guys who've been to jail, work as rappers or wear big chains or anything stereotypical like that. They also won't be two-dimensional angels either. They'll be complex characters who buck the standard generalities — in other words, interesting and diverse representations of black people.
For this effort, Hargro needs at least $3,500 pledged by Friday, Sept. 9.
