Chicago Reader, Dallas Observer, Village Voice Win James Beard Journalism Awards
Three AAN members were winners of prestigious James Beard Foundation Journalism Awards on Friday.

The Village Voice's Tejal Rao was awarded the Craig Claiborne Award, which recognizes the best restaurant criticism in the country, for her stylish reviews of Pok Pok NY, Per Se and 606 R&D.

The Chicago Reader's Michael Sula won the M.F.K. Fisher Distinguished Writing Award for his article on eating squirrels, "Chicken of the Trees."

To round out the alt-weekly winners, Alice Laussade of the Dallas Observer won for humor for her column "The Cheap Bastard's Ultimate Guide to Eating like a Total Cheap Bastard in Dallas" and is now officially the funniest food writer in the country.
