SPFF is an independent festival hosted by The Coast, Halifax's Weekly showcasing films made with smart phones by filmmakers of any caliber.

The Coast Launches Atlantic Canada's First Ever Smart Phone Film Festival #SPFF
The Coast has announced their next unique event, Atlantic Canada's first ever Smart Phone Film Festival (SPFF). All genres of films are eligible for entry from all ages of amateur filmmakers, professional filmmakers, app addicts and smart phone wizards, provided the films are under 5 minutes long.

Selected films will be shown at the SPFF's one night event on Friday, June 19 where all are invited to a fun night of viewing submissions at Paul O'Reagan Hall in the new Halifax Central Library. Following the screenings there will be a brief award presentation of the SPFF awards ("the Spiffies"), valued up to $2000 in cash.

Coast Publisher and SPFF organizer, Christine Oreskovich says "YouTube reaches us more than any cable network. Short films are incredibly entertaining, fun and share-able. The Coast wanted to host a cool film event that everyone can participate in."

The Smart Phone Film Festival is produced by Coast Publishing Ltd and sponsored by Eastlink Wireless. Their goal is to make SPFF a strong annual cultural event for amateur filmmakers in Nova Scotia.
