Registration Open for Columbia Journalism School's 2009 Career Expo
Registration is now open for our annual Career Expo, Saturday, March 28 from 9 am-5 pm at Columbia University in NYC. This event is an opportunity to find promising new journalists for your newsrooms: full-time, part-time, freelance or a final intern for summer. Please join the dozens of recruiters and editors from across the country who make this event a success every year.

We're grateful to the alt-weekly media for its fearless journalism, and we remain as committed as ever to training the kinds of journalists you're looking for. Our grads have recently been hired at the Dallas Observer, the Twin Cities City Pages, the Riverfront Times, the Village Voice, the New Haven Advocate and the Long Island Press; we have alums at the San Francisco Bay Guardian, Washington City Paper, Jackson Free Press, Willamette Week, Metro Spirit, the Colorado Springs Independent, Eugene Weekly and others.

Even if you don't have jobs right now, this is a chance to meet candidates for positions you'll have later. Or consider coming to demonstrate your commitment to journalism education. Our 400 graduate students are a diverse, smart group with a wide range of language skills, life experience and journalistic interests. All of our students receive basic training in multimedia; several dozen other attain expert-level skills as new media concentrators. More than 70 of our graduates, including Willamette Week's Nigel Jaquiss, have won the Pulitzer Prize; dozens more, including 41 who have taken a popular book-publishing seminar, have written books or landed book contracts.

In addition to our Master of Science in Journalism students, you will meet students in our Master of Arts in Journalism Program. These candidates have already attained competence as journalists and are spending the year receiving specialized training in one of four areas: business, arts/culture, science/health or politics. You'll also meet our students in the Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism; our Stabile students make use of computer-assisted reporting, records searches and in-depth enterprise techniques to produce major projects during their year here.

Register today at fs7.formsite.com/cu_jschool_careers/JOCRecruiters/index.html

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS or concerns about any aspect of this event, please call Gina Boubion at (212)854-2980 or gb2219 (at) columbia.edu. We look forward to seeing you in March.
