Oklahoma Gazette Announces New Editor

Oklahoma City metro native Jennifer Palmer Chancellor joined Oklahoma
Gazette as its
editor-in-chief in August. She moved back after 14 years at the Tulsa World, where
she worked in a variety of capacities over the years, most recently as music journalist,
reviewer and blogger for the area’s burgeoning concert industry.
Her journalistic work experience includes news, breaking news, feature and news
feature reporting, investigative journalism, news photography, videography, blogging,
page design and marketing spanning more than two decades in Oklahoma.
“Jennifer’s skills and experience herald a dynamic continuation of Oklahoma Gazette’s
independent, cutting-edge journalism,” said Oklahoma Gazette Publisher Bill Bleakley.
“As we expand Oklahoma Gazette’s print and digital presence in Central Oklahoma, we
could not have made a better choice for our editor-in-chief.”
She has worked with the Enid News and Eagle, Tulsa World, Broken Arrow Ledger,
Edmond Evening Sun and other publications. She also interned for CNN to help cover
the aftermath of the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building.
Chancellor replaces longtime Gazette employee Phil Bacharach, who worked his way up
through the weekly publication since 1993 and was its editor-in-chief for two years.
He will continue as a freelance reporter with Oklahoma Gazette while working full time
as a public relations specialist in the city.
