Four newspapers were admitted to the Association of Alternative Newsweeklies at the annual membership meeting on Sunday, bringing the total of papers in the association to 126. The Admissions Committee had recommended three of the papers that were voted in: Los Angeles City Beat, LA Alternative Press and Rocky Mountain Bullhorn of Fort Collins, Colo. The committee had declined to recommend the fourth paper admitted, the Source of Bend Ore., but its vote on that recommendation was split 5 to 5.
Ten papers had applied for admission this year.
AAN now has three members in the city of Los Angeles, with the newly admitted papers joining longtime member L.A. Weekly.
