Village Voice Media announced today that Elizabeth L. McDougall has been named its general counsel.

Formerly a partner at Perkins Coie LLP in Seattle, McDougall brings to VVM nearly two decades of experience in commercial litigation and counseling focused specifically on high-tech matters.

"Liz's particular expertise in internet-related law, especially online content and intellectual property, are an ideal match with VVM's growth as an online media provider," said VVM chief executive officer Jim Larkin.

A graduate of NYU’s School of Law, McDougall practiced law in New York and provided pro bono services in rural North Carolina before moving west. Pro bono work throughout her career has included anti-human trafficking initiatives, guardian ad litem representation, and civil rights litigation. She plans to continue similar efforts in conjunction with her new position with VVM.
