Classified advertising representatives will be lugging home bigger paychecks this summer if they take advantage of the 50 percent commission that will be paid for selling ads into the AAN Classified Advertising Network ("AAN CAN") in July.

The one-month promotion will increase the commission on national classifieds from $237.50 to $475. AAN members will also earn 50 percent -- twice the regular commission -- for selling into any of the five regional markets available through AAN CAN.

"This promotion was instituted in response to a suggestion that was raised during the convention in Phoenix," said AAN Director of Marketing Adam Ebbin. "We're hoping it will encourage sales and also provide a nice summer bonus for AAN CAN reps."

Bonus commissions will be paid to AAN papers that sell AAN CAN ads that run during the weeks of July 3, 10, 17, 24 or 31. As always, prepayment to AAN or the selling paper is required. All payments must be received by AAN by Tuesday, Aug. 8 to qualify for the bonus commission.

The AAN CAN program has already generated gross revenue of $285,000 since it was instituted in November, 1999.
