Emily Blunt Proves She Can Carry a Film With Her Portrayal of Queen Victorianew

Emily Blunt absolutely sparkles in period-drama The Young Victoria, a film that manages to be a good (though embellished) piece of history and strikingly romantic at the same time.

It's Over-Complicated: Meryl Streep is Terrible in Nancy Meyers' New Movienew

While there are some good laughs in It's Complicated, the latest from writer-director Nancy Meyers, the film is actually done in by a surprising culprit of bad overacting—none other than the ever-reliable Meryl Streep.

'Invictus' Starts Out Strong, But Devolves Into a Mediocre Sports Movienew

The film seems like it's on its way to greatness in the beginning, with Nelson Mandela dealing with the difficulties of being South Africa's first black president. Unfortunately, the film goes off track; by its underwhelming sporting-event finale, it has completely lost focus.

'Bronson' Fails at Melding Violence, Artsy Filmmaking and Naked Penisesnew

Knowing that there's an audience of action-loving young men who'll pay to see violence and bloodshed, director Nicolas Winding Refn loaded his movie up with fighting, Dada-esque mime sequences and full frontal male nudity. Because: Huh?

'Pirate Radio' Sinks Due to Flat Characters and Abundant Movie Clichesnew

On the upside, Pirate Radio is beautifully shot. It's loaded with the kind of cinematic trickery that was popular back in the '60s. So if you were tripping on five hits of acid, and your heightened consciousness was somehow filtering out all the dialogue, it would be a pretty good movie.

Disregard the Crappy Marketing Campaign; 'A Christmas Carol' is an Enchanting Movienew

This is a surprisingly faithful adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic, with a little 3-D whiz-bang thrown in for good measure. When the frantic sequences are squished together in a short preview trailer, they are just annoying. Within the film, effectively spread apart, the sequences become exhilarating.
