What Does The Google Algorithm Change Mean?

It's a common search query today, as is "google algorithm change 2011," "google algorithm," and "google search change."

It's easily answered too. The Google algorithm change, reported by the New York Times early today, "is designed to reduce rankings for low-quality sites — sites which are low-value add for users, copy content from other Web sites or sites that are just not very useful.”

While not saying so explicitly, many have interpreted this move as a response to content farms such as Demand Media, AOL, and Huffington Post, which generate stories based on popular search terms such as, "What time does the Super Bowl start?"
