Today Show Claims 'Exclusive' on Story Riverfront Times Broke Last Year

We don't think that word means what you think it means, Matt Lauer. The Today Show claimed it had an "exclusive" on a story that Riverfront Times managing editor Jessica Lussenhop broke in September 2013.

"It was STILL exclusive when I did it again for This American Life in February 2014," she tells Romenesko. "The attention is great for his case and yes, I know how the 24-hour news cycle food chain works, but it doesn’t keep it from being hard to hear the word 'exclusive' coming out of Matt Lauer's mouth when the actual exclusive came out nine months ago."

Update, May 5: Mike Anderson, the subject of Lussenhop's story, has now been released from prison.
