OC Weekly has named Gustavo Arellano -- author of the syndicated column ¡Ask A Mexican! -- as managing editor; allowing Kevin Roderick of
LA Observed to finally cross this lede from his to-do list:
Now the other staffers at the OC Weekly will have to ask a Mexican for time off or a later deadline. Gustavo Arellano ascends from staff writer.
According to
an internal email acquired by Roderick, Arellano will take over "on or around the first of October."
In an email to AAN, Arellano said, "I owe this all to the chance that the
Weekly was able to give me so long ago through AAN's
diversity fellowship program. I look forward to serving mi general, Ted Kissell, as we and the rest of the Weeklings continue to lay waste to the lords of Orange County. And, yes: Ask a Mexican continues!"
