Ventura Newspaper Inc. Buys San Diego's SLAMM

Owner of Ventura County Reporter and Pasadena Weekly also changes it's name to Southland Publishing, Inc.

Ventura Newspaper, Inc. parent company of the Ventura County Reporter and Pasadena Weekly, has announced that it has changed its name to Southland Publishing, Inc. and has purchased a biweekly music publication in San Diego, California.

Southland Publishing, Inc. has entered into an agreement to purchase SLAMM Music Magazine in San Diego, an 8-year-old biweekly tabloid, specializing in local and national music coverage.

"SLAMM has been an important voice in support of the music scene in San Diego for a long time," said David Comden, Southland's group publisher. "This will be an exciting relationship."

SLAMM has a controlled circulation of 35,000 copies throughout San Diego County and is an Arts and Entertainment member of AWN.
