Tobias Named New Times President/COO; Laven Becomes Ruxton President

Phoenix, Ariz. -- July 1, 2004 -- Jim Larkin, CEO of New Times Media, announced that effective today Scott Tobias will officially assume the responsibilities of President and Chief Operating Officer of New Times. Since February 1, 2004, Scott has been acting as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of the company. Scott will handle all day to day operations, as well as personnel, planning and budgeting matters for the eleven-paper New Times network.

Scott began his career with Denver Westword in 1993 as an advertising representative, and took the helm as Westword Publisher in 2001. Scott, Patty Calhoun (Editor of Westword) and their respective teams have built Westword into the flagship of the New Times group, and one of the largest metropolitan weekly newspaper operations in the United States.

Also effective today, Michele Laven will move into a new position as President of Ruxton Media Group/New Times National Sales. Michele has been reorganizing New Times' national sales efforts since February 1, 2004 and her efforts have paid immediate and swift dividends for the company. Michele will be responsible for New Times' operational and sales initiatives in national and regional advertising and promotions, college advertising sales, database sales and marketing, internet advertising sales, and the integration of each of these channels into an expanded Ruxton Media Group.

Michele began her career with New Times as an advertising sales representative in 1986 and was named Publisher of Phoenix New Times in 1994. She served as Chief Operating Officer of New Times from June 2000 through February 1 of this year. Under her leadership, New Times reached over $100 million dollars of advertising sales revenue in FYE 2001.
