Survey: What's Working for Alt-Weeklies, and What Isn't?
Former alt-weekly editor Alexa Schirtzinger began her John S. Knight fellowship at Stanford University with a simple question: In the world of alt-weeklies, what's working, and what isn't?

This week, Schirtzinger and fellow JSK Fellow Tran Ha rolled out a 3-minute survey to gauge how alt-weeklies are dealing with financial challenges, staffing decisions, and journalism's general upheaval. The results will help Schirtzinger and Ha refine their fellowship projects—respectively aimed at rethinking the alt-weekly business model and planning for a new generation of millennial news consumers.
