Seattle Weekly Crime Reporter Tops Local Best Seller List

A new book by Seattle Weekly staff writer Rick Anderson was the top selling paperback in November at Seattle Mystery Bookshop.

Seattle Vice: Strippers, Prostitution, Dirty Money, and Crooked Cops in the Emerald City explores Seattle's dark underbelly, with the late Frank Colacurcio Sr. and his crime family playing a central role.

Anderson's crime reporting has earned plaudits this year. His 2009 profile of a career criminal who was able to accumulate 112 convictions in 26 years appears in the recently published Best American Crime Reporting 2010, and he also won first place in the long form news story category of AAN's 2010 AltWeekly Awards for his piece, "Lethally Blonde," which told the story of alleged murderer and (non-disputed) anti-immigrant crusader Shawna Forde.

Of his latest work, Anderson says Seattle Vice proves that the hometown of Starbucks and Microsoft "once had the kind of corruption worth bragging about. And for a good part of a century, it was accepted and expected."
