Nine seats on the AAN Board of Directors will be up for election this year at the association's annual meeting in Toronto. Prior to the election, The board of directors will consider adopting bylaw amendments that would reduce the board of directors (which now totals 18) to 16 by eliminating two of the four at-large positions.

According to the bylaws, the following board seats will open in Toronto:

  • Secretary

  • Treasurer

  • Membership Chair

  • Diversity Chair

  • Marketing Chair

  • Design & Production Chair

  • Two At-Large Positions: These are the two seats that the board may recommend be eliminated. This board restructuring would be accomplished by means of a bylaw amendment, which will be introduced at the annual meeting prior to the election.

  • The term for each of these positions is two years.

In addition, a representative of the host paper for next year's Annual Convention will be elected to a one-year term as Convention Chair.

The annual meeting will be held in Toronto on Saturday, July 17, during the final day of AAN's upcoming convention.

If you are interested in running for the board, please send a photo of yourself, a short bio (no more than 100 words) and an answer to the following questions to Jason Zaragoza:

    1) Why do you want to be on the AAN board?
    2) What are the most important issues AAN faces?

The deadline for this information is Friday, June 18.

Your candidacy and answers will be featured in a story on the AAN website.

Those who do not announce their candidacy in advance may still run for a position on the board if they are nominated from the floor during the annual meeting.
