Born and raised in Santa Barbara, California, Megan first started
working for the Santa Barbara Independent as an 18 year old
graphic design student in 1998 when hand waxed and trimmed
issues were the norm, and the camera room was still in
operation. She stayed until 2001, when she decided to pursue
her other passion, biology, at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. After
receiving a BS in Biology, and trying life in the science/medical
field for 2 years, she realized how much she missed the
wonderful people and the fast-paced life of The Independent and
accepted a position as Associate Production Manager of the Ad
Production Team. Soon after, she was promoted to Production
Manager, where she plans to stay for many years to come.
