The Austin Chronicle seeks full time Marketing Director to oversee all marketing, events, PR, and promotions for the newspaper and digital media platforms. Duties include but are not limited to: - creating and implementing the marketing strategy for the brand including print, online, and various multimedia platforms - overseeing social media strategy and initiatives - public relations, serving as spokesperson when needed and sending press releases for special issues and events - event sponsorship sales and coordination - collaborating with sales team on advertising packages, new promotions, and partnership development - overseeing a marketing team responsible for events (Hot Sauce Festival, Best of Austin, and more), promotional newsletters, street team, online store, supporter program, and general promotions - develop relationships with media partners and other brands to promote editorial content and staff - maintain consistency with look and feel of brand in the community - oversee sponsorship requests from businesses and the community Candidate requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, or related field - at least 7 years experience in marketing, events, advertising, and/or PR -strong written and oral communication skills - self motivated - demonstrated ability to take ideas from concepts to reality, with a proving track record of running successful marketing campaigns - experience managing event and marketing budgets - general knowledge of the media landscape - ability to work with a wide range of personalities, backgrounds, and skill sets This is a leadership position that works directly with the Advertising Director and Editor-in-Chief, and reports to the Publisher.
