LOUISVILLE, KY — May 29, 2008 — LEO, the alternative newsweekly serving the Louisville area, has named Stephen George as editor and Tammy Norkiewicz as sales manager, along with other masthead changes.

George, who previously served as managing editor, has been with LEO since January 2005.

"I'm looking forward to building on what LEO has worked for 18 years to accomplish," said George, 27. "It is this city's paramount source for news and political commentary, a voice for the arts and a cultural institution. I intend to carry on that tradition."

Norkiewicz, who had previously served as the newspaper's senior account executive, has been with LEO since December 2005.

In other masthead changes, associate editor Sara Havens has been named the newspaper's arts & entertainment editor, and Phillip Bailey was hired this week as staff writer. LEO also plans to bring on a news editor in July.

LEO, the Louisville Eccentric Observer, was founded in 1990 by John Yarmuth to provide news and commentary on current affairs as well as a guide to regional entertainment and recreation opportunities. The paper is distributed for free at more than 850 locations in Louisville and Southern Indiana and reaches more than 179,000 people.
