Independent Weekly (N.C.) Taps Sorg as Editor

Lisa Sorg has been named editor of the Independent Weekly, publisher Sioux Watson announced Aug. 10. Sorg started as an investigative reporter at the Durham, N.C. paper last September after serving as editor of the San Antonio Current for three years; under her leadership, the paper won the Connye Miller Award for Media. She had also been editor of the Bloomington (Ind.) Independent from 1999-2001. Sorg has won more than 15 awards for her reporting. "I'm jazzed about the opportunity," Sorg said. "It's an incredible time to be a journalist in the alternative press, with so much happening culturally and politically. And in North Carolina, there's no shortage of targets. There's a rogue under every rock."
