Eight Alt-Weeklies Honored in CNPA Awards
Eight AAN-members were honored in the California Newspaper Publishers Association's annual awards in a ceremony on April 16.

The San Francisco Bay Guardian picked up the coveted general excellence award along with a 2nd place award in the Local Breaking News category. Publisher Bruce Brugmann said the award "helps us celebrate 45 years of printing the news and raising hell by an independent, family-owned paper in San Francisco."

Palo Alto Weekly took home ten awards, the leader among AAN-member publications. They took first place in the Investigative Reporting, Business or Financial Story, Photo Essay, and Best Website categories.

North Coast Journal won seven overall awards, with first place honors in four categories.

SF Weekly picked up five awards, two of them for first place.

Both Pacific Sun and Sacramento News & Review received three first place honors.
