Type of Position: Permanent Full-Time
INDY Week, the Triangle’s award-winning alternative newsweekly, is looking for a smart, ambitious journalist to become an Associate Arts & Culture Editor. This individual will assist with editing our culture sections, but will primarily focus on writing—about music, visual and performing arts, food, trends, fashion, breaking culture news, weird stuff that happens, hot takes, events, profiles, features—for both web and print. They will also manage our social media channels, developing strategies to maximize engagement on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram feeds and increase traffic on indyweek.com. We’re looking for someone with a sharp sense of storytelling, a quick wit and acute critical-thinking skills, a good understanding of developing sources and reporting stories, a familiarity with and/or willingness to learn about the Triangle’s cultural scenes, and an unmistakable voice. Ideal candidates will have some experience in journalism and/or managing social media feeds, but we’ll consider talented newbies, too. The INDY is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity. We offer a competitive compensation package that includes company-paid insurance premiums, PTO, and a 401K. To apply, email jbillman@indyweek.com with a resume that lays out your qualifications, a cover letter that grabs our attention, and three clips that blow our minds. No phone calls. Seriously.
